Is concentration
getting worse?

Time to zoom out. Lessons 2 and 3 found one country with most of the cobalt. This page asks the same question for every commodity at once, and whether it's getting worse.
00

From one commodity to all of them

The Trade page steps back to all commodities and asks how concentrated the EU's suppliers are, and whether that's changing. Its key measure is .

What an index of 0 to 10,000 means

The index is the . Square each supplier's percentage share and add them up. Two suppliers at 50% each give 2,500 + 2,500 = 5,000.

Predict first: what would an HHI of 10,000 mean?

02

A number and its line

The KPI tile says 2K. Next to it, a line chart shows the same index month by month, with a at 2,500, a widely used threshold for "highly concentrated".

What a BA does next: raise both problems with the and note them against each measure's row in the . Don't guess the right unit and relabel it yourself. The owner, or the source, has to say which it is.

Three layers today

Three layers today: know what an index measures, read the level and the trend together, and when two parts of a tile disagree, stop and ask. Next lesson: can you trust any of these numbers?

Know what an index measures. Read the level and the trend together. When two parts of a tile disagree, stop and ask.

A single number is a . And a tile whose label and values don't fit is a question for the owner, not a puzzle to solve yourself.
